All written content must be formatted so that they can be easily uploaded into our Admin LMS (ALMS). The template you’ve chosen should get you started with basic formatting. Whether you’re starting on your outline or have almost completed a lesson, read on to perfectly format your final draft so it’s ready to publish.
We use markdown throughout to write content. As markdown uses the same keystrokes and letters as standard word processor software, no special setup is required.
From Markdown Guide:
Markdown is a lightweight markup language that you can use to add formatting elements to plaintext text documents. Created by John Gruber in 2004, Markdown is now one of the world’s most popular markup languages.
Using Markdown is different than using a WYSIWYG editor. In an application like Microsoft Word, you click buttons to format words and phrases, and the changes are visible immediately. Markdown isn’t like that. When you create a Markdown-formatted file, you add Markdown syntax directly to the text to indicate which words and phrases should look different.
As Markdown uses the same keystrokes and letters as standard word processor software, no special setup is required. Since it’s related to HTML, it renders on Designlab’s platform and website without additional setup. This makes it quick and easy to start writing, create templates, and collaborate with team members without additional tools or technical knowledge.
Body text doesn’t need special formatting — you can write in a Word or Google doc as normal.
For bold and italic text, here’s what you need to do in Google Docs:
Select the option in the edit bar, or use the shortcut cmd + b (Mac) / ctrl + b (Win)
Add an underscore or a single asterisk before and after the text. This ensures that the text remains italic when copied into ALMS.
